AMICAL MAUTHAUSEN

and other camps and all the victims of Nazism in Spain

At the end of the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939), hundreds of thousands of Spanish Republicans, both civilians and soldiers, arrived as refugees in France. With the Nazi invasion of France, around ten thousand Spanish Republicans were subsequently deported to Nazi concentration camps. The ‘Amical de Mauthausen and other camps and of all victims of Nazism in Spain’ is the association that brings together former Republican deportees from Nazi concentration camps, as well as family members and friends of both survivors and deportees murdered in the camps.

The Amical de Mauthausen and other camps has currently about 780 members and represents deportees from this Austrian camp and from all camps of the Third Reich, although the association takes the name of Mauthausen because it was the camp where most Spaniards were deported.
